Barcoding and Labels

Inventory Pro uses three barcode and label utilities for different jobs:

  • Barcode Catalog for bulk item labels
  • Item Barcodes for one item or one location at a time
  • Location Barcodes for warehouse location labels and location generation

These utilities live under Utilities, not under the Inventory menu.

Quick Start

TaskPath
Print labels for a filtered set of itemsUtilities -> Documents -> Barcode Catalog
Print a label for one item or locationUtilities -> Inventory -> Item Barcodes
Print labels for warehouse locationsUtilities -> Inventory -> Location Barcodes

All three utilities require permission 268 - Reports & Labels - Print Barcode Labels.

Barcode Catalog System

Path: Utilities -> Documents -> Barcode Catalog

Use Barcode Catalog when you need labels for many items at once. The catalog is limited to 7,500 rows per run, so narrow the result set with filters when needed.

Catalog Filtering Options

FieldUse
Select WarehouseLimit output to one warehouse or leave it broad
Select LocationNarrow the result to one location
Item IDFilter by a specific item or partial item match
DescriptionFilter by description text
CategoryFilter by category
SerializedInclude only serialized items
Non StockInclude non-stock items
Print Labels By LotPrint by lot record instead of distinct item rows

Label Format Selection

The page offers two print modes:

  • Print Catalog: three-across Avery 5160 / 5260 output for bulk runs
  • Print Individual Barcodes: individual barcode output based on the system’s label configuration

There is no separate format chooser on this screen. For individual barcodes, the system resolves the label format from configured label definitions.

Catalog Generation Process

There is no dedicated Generate button. To run the catalog, click one of these sort buttons:

  • Sort By ItemID
  • Sort By Description
  • Sort By Category

The selected sort also controls the output order. Results open in a popup window as PDF output.

Item Label Printing System

Item Barcode Utility

Path: Utilities -> Inventory -> Item Barcodes

Use Item Barcodes when you need a quick label for one item or one location.

Quick Label Creation

  1. Select a Warehouse.
  2. Enter or look up an Item ID, or choose a Location.
  3. Set Number Of Labels.
  4. Click Create Labels.

Validation and Controls

  • The quantity must be at least 1.
  • The utility opens PDF output in a popup window.
  • The page does not expose a user-selectable label format menu.

If you leave Item ID blank and leave Location at All Locations, the utility can fall through to a No Records Found for this Label. result instead of stopping with a validation message. Use a specific item or location for reliable output.

Location Label System

Location Label Generation

The location-label surface is named Location Utilities. It has one section for printing labels and one section for generating new locations.
