Quick Orders

Quick Orders are a fast entry path for standard shipping orders. Choose a warehouse and customer, add items to the cart, review the staged lines, and place the order.

Quick Start

  • Desktop path: Orders → Shipping → Quick Order.
  • Mobile path: Shipping → Quick Order.
  • On desktop, use Save, Review, and Place Order.
  • On mobile, use Start, Save, and Complete.
  • After the order is created, finish fulfillment from the normal shipping-order workflow.

Understanding Quick Orders

Quick Orders use a cart model:

  1. Select the warehouse and customer.
  2. Stage items in the cart.
  3. Review the order.
  4. Place the order.

The desktop cart is database-backed. If you leave the page and return later, the system can restore the pending cart instead of starting over.

Desktop Quick Orders

Start the Order

  1. Go to Orders → Shipping → Quick Order.
  2. Select Warehouse.
  3. Select Ship To.
  4. Add or update the optional contact and address fields as needed.

Common header fields:

FieldNotes
Ship ToRequired customer selection
Requested DateDate requested for the order
PhoneCustomer phone for this order
Contact EmailEmail for this order
AddressShipping address line
CityShipping city
StateShipping state
ZipShipping ZIP or postal code

View Modes

Desktop Quick Order has four item-list modes:

ModeUse
All Available ItemsFull item list
Previously Ordered ItemsCustomer repeat-order view
Basic View All AvailableReduced-column entry view
Basic View Previously OrderedReduced-column repeat-order view

The view selector is shown through the gear menu and is typically available only to administrator-level users. Other users get the configured default view.

Add Items and Place the Order

  1. Search by Item ID, Description, or Category.
  2. Enter Units for the items you want.
  3. Click Save to stage the lines.
  4. Click Review to inspect the cart and totals.
  5. Click Place Order to create the shipping order.
  6. Use Back to return from review, or Reset to clear the cart completely.

Line Grid

The full desktop grid can include columns such as:

  • Item ID
  • Description
  • Category
  • Units
  • Cost
  • Available
  • In Stock
  • On Hold
  • Committed
  • Image

Basic View uses a reduced set of columns for faster entry.

Desktop Notes

  • Quick Order uses the current item cost in this entry flow.
  • Sales tax in Quick Order depends on Admin Option 216.
  • If backorders are disabled, zero-available items can be hidden from the item list.
  • Discontinued items are blocked from entry.

Mobile Quick Orders

Use Mobile Quick Order when you need fast order entry from the warehouse floor.

  1. Open Shipping → Quick Order.
  2. Select the customer.
  3. Enter Delivery Date and Delivery Notes if needed.
  4. Tap Start.
  5. Use the Create tab to add items.
  6. Tap Save as you stage each line.
  7. Use the Review tab to inspect the staged order.
  8. Tap Complete to place the order.

Mobile Quick Order is only the order-entry step. Issuing, picking, packing, and other fulfillment detail belong to the shared mobile shipping-order workflow. See Mobile Orders.

Previously Ordered Items

Use Previously Ordered Items when the customer is reordering familiar items. The list is filtered to that customer’s prior order history.

If you want the same repeat-order behavior with fewer visible columns, use Basic View Previously Ordered.

Validation Rules

The following behaviors are confirmed for Quick Orders:

  • Warehouse is required before items can be staged.
  • Ship To is required before items can be staged.
  • Discontinued items are blocked.
  • Quick Order can warn on item order limits when that option is enabled.
  • Tax calculation depends on configuration rather than being universally active.
  • Cart state is persisted in the database rather than only in browser session state.
